I began the weekend creating a common seadragon but was interrupted by a documentary on the renowned American-born Chinese commercial and Fine Artist, Tyrus Wong (1910-2016). His atmospheric and lush watercolor brush paintings for Walt Disney’s “Bambi” are among his many extraordinary talents that also included brush-painted ceramics, street murals, greeting cards, and late in life –fluttering-wing colorful kites of butterflies and birds! A simple homage to this broadly celebrated American artist.
Portrayed in a kite-inspired graphic and bold solid color design, 4 green and black striped zebra swallowtail butterflies with red, blue, and yellow eyespots and long black tails are surrounded by green leaves on a white background in this swallowtail butterfly garden mandala. You will over 800 butterfly inspired images when you visit phelpsmandala.com. Fly over soon! Sometimes the simplest moments and images bring the simplest pleasures in so many ways. Make art that brings you joy! Always my best!
